Take Care of Yourself

Posted by Hannah Burdine | Nov 23, 2021 | 0 Comments

When you are going through a stressful life-changing event like a divorce or the threat of losing custody of your child, it is easy to let worry overtake you. It's hard to find the motivation to cook yourself a nutritious meal and look after your physical fitness. It is important during this time that you take care of yourself.  This could be spending 30 minutes a day at the gym  and coming home to a bubble bath.  In the mornings, make yourself a protein shake with one cup of Greek yogurt, super greens and fruit. You need to eat.  You need physical fitness.

When I went through my own divorce, I wouldn't eat, and I didn't take care of myself.  The end result was that it made me feel worse.  It is most important during stressful times that you take care of yourself. I couldn't bring myself to fix a meal or go to the gym, but friends would bring me food and take me to the gym with them.  It was amazing how I felt so much better after going to the gym and eating right.

When you are going through a divorce or the stress of a child custody case, it is important to reduce stress from your life. You can do that by taking an hour out of each day to take care of you. You will find that it reduces stress, cheers you up and helps you to think clearly, too.

There is a great app where you can find all kinds of mind/body activities in Nashville, Tennessee or within a close a radius to your home.  It's called MindBody. You don't have to commit to spending hundreds of dollars a month on a gym or fitness center right now.  Using the MindBody app, you can find all kinds of places near you offering yoga, fitness classes, Pilates and the like, where you can drop in at a very low cost.

If you don't feel like cooking or going to the grocery store, you can order nutritious meals from Door Dash from restaurants close to you. There are even healthy restaurants in Nashville where you can order a week's worth of healthy, pre-made meals at one time, such as Green Table Nashville

So take care of yourself.  I promise it will make things easier when you eat right and nurture your body with fitness, healthy food and spa treatments while you are going through this stressful time.
